Health experts have a new warning about how spending more time on tablets and computers could impact your child's vision, particularly when they hold a device so close to their face and doctors said the effects may go beyond just needing glasses.
"Because kids are so resilient, they can work around a lot of eye conditions and in fact, kids get 80% of their learning through their vision so it is really important that their eyes are not only seeing well, but functioning well together," Dr. Selina McGee with BeSpoke Vision said.
Some ways to help protect kids' eyes include having them take a break from looking at things up close every 20 minutes they spend on an iPad or reading, having them look at something far away, going to play outside for a few hours and getting annual comprehensive eye checks.
