Sperry police are looking for a man who led officers on a chase in a stolen SUV.

Police said they saw a Chevy blazer going too fast through town around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning and tried to pull the driver over.

Officers say that’s when the driver took off, leading police on a chase. Both Sperry and Skiatook police were involved in the chase.

They say they caught up enough to run the plates and saw the Blazer was stolen out of Tulsa.

According to police, the driver sped north on Highway 11, eventually turning onto 133rd Street North, where he lost control and crashed into a barbed-wire fence off the side of the road. They say he got out and ran away.

Officers say they were not able to find him because that area is very rural, so they decided to call off the search.

Sperry Police are asking anyone who may have information about the chase to contact authorities.
