A Tulsa shop on Cherry Street is hosting its first-ever kids camp for spring break.
The kids are getting a behind-the-scenes look at Magnolia Soap and Bath Co. Kids are learning to make bath bombs, shower steamers, and bubble scoops. It's like a science experiment, arts and crafts, and a fun activity in one. Owner Scotty Lawrence says this camp is also the first time people are pouring their own soap.
She says until now, only employees have done that at this store. Lawrence says the kids get to take home anything they make at this two-day camp. This is the first kids camp, but teaching people is nothing new at this store.
Magnolia hosts parties and events from birthdays to girls’ night outs and bridal showers. You can also walk in for make and takes, where you make a bath bomb and take it home.
"We're just excited to be able to bring in the community so they can see what we do. This is the very first time that we're going to do, we're going to do a lot more after this,” Lawrence said. “Being able to have people come in and make their own loaf of soap, which you can't do anywhere else."
Lawrence says she plans on holding summer camps like this one starting in June. She says soon, they're launching soap-making classes for adults.
