The first "OKGO Market," featuring more than 150 businesses all based in Oklahoma, is taking place March 19 at Expo Square. From food to accessories and home décor, organizers said they carefully handpicked each vendor to make sure there is something for everyone.

The inaugural event is organized by TulsaGo, a project that began in 2018, aimed at letting people know about events and experiences around the city.

Erik-Michael Collins with TulsaGO said this year's market has three times the number of vendors compared to last year's event that was focused on only Tulsa County businesses.

"That tells me there is a lot of talent here in the state of Oklahoma and that the interest for doing something like this, a true creator and market, people are just so excited to get back out there," said Collins.

20-year-old Lazandra Harrison of Tulsa, owner of Soy Works Candle Co., said she started making candles as a hobby when the pandemic started. Now it is her second full-time job.

"Once COVID hit, it gave so many people opportunities that we really didn't have because small businesses have grown so much with the pandemic and everything going on," said Harrison.

Over at Harry's Birdhouses, Harry Kimball is behind the woodwork. His wife helps with the painting.

Kimball said he has been making birdhouses for 14 years, but this is his first vendor show in Oklahoma after moving from Boston to Collinsville two years ago.

"I just love doing it, and I love the children when they come up to my booth," said Kimball.

Everyone involved told News On 6 they are excited to showcase their work and feel blessed that more people are supporting local.

OKGO Market is taking place at Central Park Hall from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. There is no cost. The first 50 people through the door will get a free tote bag.
