Shower chances move into the metro on Monday morning after a weekend of pleasant weather.

Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:

Showers and thunderstorms will become more common as the day progresses as a powerful upper-level storm system moves across the southern plains. Enough instability exists for a few thunderstorms across Northeastern Oklahoma, but the higher probability for strong to near severe storms will remain across southeastern Oklahoma into North Texas.

Temps & Rain Chances

The highest severe weather threat on Monday will be across Texas, but a few strong to severe storms cannot be ruled out across southeastern Oklahoma early evening. The potential for pockets of moderate to heavy rainfall will occur across parts of the area. High temperatures on Monday will top out in the lower 60s midday with gusty southeast winds at 20 to 30 mph before temps drop into the 50s with rain-cooled air Monday afternoon. A surface area of low pressure will move across far southern Oklahoma late Monday and early Tuesday morning creating a dry slot behind the departing low early Tuesday morning. This means a few showers of storms will continue early Tuesday morning, but most of Tuesday midday will remain relatively dry.

Temperatures

Temps start Tuesday morning in the upper 50s but will fall into the mid-40s by Tuesday afternoon. As this happens, a few additional showers and thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday midday to afternoon across extreme eastern OK and western Arkansas. The main upper-level system will not clear until late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. As the main upper trough rotates across NE OK early Wednesday morning an area of rain with a few snowflakes will be possible with morning lows in the 30s. Wednesday afternoon highs will reach the lower 50s with decreasing clouds and northwest winds.

Monday Highs

Temperatures Thursday morning will start in the mid-30s with afternoon highs in the 50s. By Friday and Saturday, we’ll anticipate mostly sunny conditions and afternoon highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

The early weekend outlook appears pleasant.

Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
