A Tulsa Doctor wants to make wound care accessible for everyone. The Tulsa Wound Center is the first of its kind in Oklahoma. Doctor Le wanted to show her gratitude for all the people who made it possible.

"It is the first private wound center, research and Hyperbaric center in Oklahoma," said Dr. Lam Le, Founder and Medical Director of The Tulsa Wound Center.

There is a space for the helpers at the Tulsa Wound Center.

"I have my little wall of gratitude," said Dr. Le.

A wall of gratitude, thanking Dr. Lam Le's mentors specifically. But this party is for her team, her family, and friends - all the people who have made this center possible.

"We had our ribbon cutting today and we had a wound carnival which is basically wound education," said Dr. Le.

The Center opened in July of 2021, but the celebration couldn't happen until today. In the meantime, the building has been seeing patients, like Dwight Morris.

"I came in with some pretty significant damage to a foot....there was a pretty fair chance without it {them}....I could've lost my foot," said Morris. Dwight said the medical staff feels like his family and their support, pulled him through.

"Even if I am down, Dr. Le is like a living hug," said Morris.

The Tulsa Wound Center isn't just a spot for treatment, it is also a place for research.

"The latest and greatest products and services in wound care, we can offer free of charge to some of our patients," said Dr. Le.

There is a theme at the office. "We call ourselves Wound-er Women," said Dr. Le. The staff is full of women and one man.

"We have some shirts that say Wound-er Women Plus Weston," said Dr. Le, laughing.

For this group, saving the world, just means doing your part from where you're at, with what you have.

"When I first came to the US, I was not even 2 years old. My parents left Vietnam and came here with nothing. The community helped us. Ever since I was younger it was let's give back, let's thank people, let's help people. Always remember the people who helped you along the way," said Dr. Le, "I couldn't have done it on my own- it takes a village and I have the best village."
