A restaurant that has been in Tulsa for more than a century was hit by vandals for the second time in one week. A few weeks ago, Tulsa Police were investigating near 11th and Peoria after officers said eight different businesses had their windows shattered by a vandal. Ike's Chili has been hit twice, including Monday.

As the window in the kitchen was getting boarded up, Howard Trail was getting ready for the quickly approaching lunch hour. "It's the best chili…Will Rogers thought so. He ate here all the time when he was around,” Employee Howard Trail said.

Outside, a web of shattered glass was still in the door frame. "I had to clean up part of the mess. Even though the glass was still hanging, the splinters went all over everywhere,” Trail said.

Trail said police arrived around 1:30 Monday morning when the alarms went off, and the officer only saw cracks in the window and the back door was open. TPD said no report was filed.

"I came in this morning and I looked at that door and the glass was hanging in,” Trail said. "He kicked it in, came in through the glass and then walks in the kitchen,” another employee said while looking at surveillance video.

Staff later saw surveillance video, showing a man walking around in the kitchen for about 10 minutes. They said he left through the back door.

The restaurant was in the process of upgrading its security camera system, when another vandalism incident happened on Friday: someone cut off their power. "That's what went through my mind, 'Again?!' No kidding,” Trail said.

Ike's is staying open and getting a new security system up and running as soon as possible. As far as the staff can tell, nothing was stolen. If you know anything about what happened, call police.
