El Reno police said they're issuing a $1,000 reward for anyone with any information into an animal cruelty case. They said they've received several reports of injured ducks and geese at the Legion Park.

“I'm not going to cry because I didn't know about this until I got here and talking about it is emotional,” Julie Brinkley said.

Julie and Becky Brinkley didn't know people were hurting the animals at Legion Park.

“What makes you want to hurt something that is innocent,” Brinkley said.

Police received about a dozen reports since April involving birds with blow darts in their bodies. Some died from their wounds.

“It's just cruel. We're not serving any purpose here intentionally shooting and injuring the wildlife over and over again that's clearly criminal behavior,” Major Kirk Dickerson said.

“You shouldn't have to have a reward to report it. Someone has seen it, and someone should call without a reward,” Brinkley said.

Major Dickerson said they've received complaints from residents about the migratory birds in their yards, but he said injuring them is never the answer.

“Most ducks are protected species. There are hunting regulations that have to be followed and you can't hunt in the city limits anyway,” Major Dickerson said.

“Sociopathic. The people that end up hurting animals, end up hurting humans. It's not cool. They're just beautiful innocent creatures doing nothing to anyone,” Brinkley said.

If you have any information, you’re asked to call the El Reno police tip line at (405) 295-9339.
