A bridge replacement project is expected to get underway along Highway 412 in Rogers County on Tuesday. The project will take nearly a year to complete.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says the westbound section of Highway 412 over the Verdigris River is what will be replaced. ODOT says the bridge is classified as functionally obsolete right now because it is not wide enough and does not have room for a shoulder.
The goal of the project is to bring the area up to modern standards. Back in 2017, crews finished eastbound construction for the project.
Traffic will be narrowed to one lane for nearly two miles. ODOT is asking drivers to be aware as congestion could build as a result.
ODOT says the price tag for the project is nearly $14 million. It’s expected to take about a year to complete and should be finished in the fall of 2023.
