This is your week to enjoy great food, support local businesses, and help hungry kids.
It’s Restaurant Week in Tulsa. More than 35 restaurants are participating this week, and part of the proceeds will support Oklahomans struggling with hunger.
This is Tulsa's 16th Annual Restaurant Week, held in September to bring attention to Hunger Awareness Month.
The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma partners with local restaurants for 10 days.
Chef Jeff Marlow said last year's campaign raised $44,000 to feed children in our state.
The USDA projects Eastern Oklahoma will have the highest number of kids struggling with hunger in the nation.
That's why Marlow said this week is so important.
A portion of those proceeds ordered from the special menus will be donated to help the Food for Kids program.
Marlow said it's a win-win for businesses and the food bank.
"Restaurants are struggling right now. The pandemic hit them hard, and even during a very hard time that restaurants are at their weakest point, they're still committing to donating and fighting hunger. So, I think that speaks a lot to the community of Tulsa and our local restaurants. So go out and support them,” Marlow said.
Restaurant week started on Friday, September 9 and will go through Sunday, September 18.
