The OKPOP museum has partnered with an Oklahoma musician to raise money for the museum.
The executive director says Blake Shelton will now be the face of the fundraising campaign.
"Basically, he will be in some ways, the face of the project," said Executive Director Jeffrey Moore.
Moore says Oklahoma musicians love giving back to their state.
"They all love being from here, they all love the fact the state of Oklahoma is involved in this project, they feel like that is a thank you in a way, and a way for them to give back," he said.
He says the museum has about $30 million to raise between private and public funding.
Moore says they plan to reach out to even more Oklahoma musicians and artists.
"We have a list of over 3,000 creatives, so there's a long list of friends and partners in this project that we will be reaching out to and announcing in the coming weeks," he said.
Moore says they plan for the museum to be an international attraction, and while they think the majority of the visitors will be from out of state, they hope to make Oklahomans proud.
"Not only are we going to play into that Okie pride, and Oklahoma visitors are going to be more proud of the state they're from, and the people who have come from here, but we are definitely going to share the Okie story with people from around the world," he said.
Moore says the museum is still hoping to be open by the end of 2024.
