The Rotary Club of Tulsa held a luncheon on Wednesday to celebrate the 2023 firefighter and police officer of the year.

The Above and Beyond Awards recognizes the winners for excellence on the job, but also for all of the extra service they do off the job.

Tulsa Fire Captain Joey Marshall organizes the 9/11 Stair Climb every year, as a way to honor the lives lost during that terrorist attack.

Officer Josh Metcalf is heavily involved with the Special Olympics, organizing the Polar Plunge and Torch Run.

"Remember that every day they go to work and serve your city, along with other extraordinary men and women," Mayor G.T. Bynum said.

News On 6's Lori Fullbright said she was honored to emcee the event again this year.

The Rotary Club donated $4,000 to the charity of choice for both winners. That money went to New Beginnings church in Bixby and the Special Olympics.
