Family, Friends Gather To Honor Lives Of Lost Loved Ones With Butterfly Release At Tulsa Zoo

Family and friends gathered to celebrate the lives of lost loved ones at the Tulsa Zoo on Friday.

Saint Francis Hospice hosted the community event at the zoo where butterflies were released in memory of loved ones who have passed away.

"The idea of releasing the butterfly of beginning new life. And just kind of letting go of the grief. And some don't even let go of the grief at that moment but just a way to process and journey on through the grief,"

said Charlie Dodd, Saint Francis Hospice Bereavement Coordinator.

Before the release, words of encouragement were offered for those coping with loss.
