Neurosurgeon and Cain's Ballroom co-owner Dr. James Rodgers died this week at the age of 71.
Rodgers bought Cain's in 2002 and worked to restore it to its former glory over the last 20 years. The venue was added to the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Outside of the music world, Rogers was a well-respected neurosurgeon who helped to co-found the Tulsa Spine and Specialty Hospital in Tulsa.
Hillcrest Healthcare System released the following statement after Rodgers's death:
"Hillcrest HealthCare System is remembering and honoring the life of Dr. James Rodgers, a neurosurgeon at Tulsa Spine and Specialty Hospital (TSSH). Dr. Rodgers was a founder of TSSH and a board member for 18 years. He is best known as a caring and compassionate physician who bettered the life of his patients and staff at TSSH. His life’s passions were to help people enjoy life, and we are proud that his surgical skills along with his calling outside the operating room, helped people have the best quality of life. His hands touched patients, restoring their lives, while his impact on Tulsa music left deep resonating imprints on the hearts of many."
