Governor Kevin Stitt signs a $625-million dollar education plan into law on Thursday.
The news law funds a record investment into public education including teacher pay raises across the board and 6 weeks of paid maternity leave.
"Let Washington DC play politics, let's make Oklahoma a top 10 state in education," said Stitt about the law. "I think it's gonna be a recruitment tool, people are gonna be moving here from Dallas and Washington DC."
The plan also includes a divisive program that will provide tax credits to families who send their children to private schools.
