Man Found Dead At Okmulgee Residence; FBI Takes Over Investigation

The FBI is investigating a homicide after Okmulgee authorities say a man was found dead at a residence Saturday evening.

Joe Prentice, Okmulgee Chief of Police, said officers were called by local EMS to North Okmulgee Street regarding a victim of assault around 7:50 p.m.

Police arrived on the scene and EMS had declared the man dead.

During the homicide investigation, authorities learned a party was ongoing at the residence and most people involved, including the victim, were tribal members.

Okmulgee authorities then handed the investigation over to the FBI.

Authorities said the medical examiner will officially identify the victim.
