Following the Father’s Day storms, it is hard to find gasoline around the Tulsa metro because a lot of stations are without power or they have power and no gas.

Those that have both have long lines of people waiting to fill up, and some locations are running out of certain blends.

QuikTrip has 84 locations across Oklahoma, and a spokesperson told News On 6 whether a station is open or what gas is available changes by the minute.

No matter what you drive, getting gas around the Tulsa metro after the severe storms could cost more time and money by driving around and looking.

"It's been a nightmare,” said Dana Few from Bristow. “We've been to like 15 QuikTrips.”

She finally got gas at a QT south of the Hard Rock Casino. "I just was praying I wasn't going to run out of gas,” said Few.

Brian Eckberg said he has seen people waiting as long as 30 minutes.

"The next few days are going to be really important,” said Eckberg. “Everyone needs to be nice. It's going to be hot, people are going to be out of everything and they're going to be mad, so a smile goes a long way right now."

At a QT near 41st and Garnett, regular and mid-grade gasoline were sold out, so drivers like Tommy Conklin filled up on premium.

"It's crazy, but you've got to do what you've got to do to get back and forth to work," said Conklin.

At a news conference June 19, Tulsa Mayor GT Bynum said the city does not have control over gasoline availability.

The mayor also said the potential gas shortage is not impacting the city's service.

"It's more that we see that fuel is not coming back in at the rate that it's going out and so it is a concern over the next several days if that isn't addressed,” said Mayor Bynum.

Customers like Anika Spears said they are praying power is restored soon and ask that people are patient with each other.

"I'm just going to be kind and be patient and just, ‘Hey, Hallelujah’ anyhow, and just enjoy the ride,” said Spears.

Mayor Bynum also said the city has reached out to state agencies and the major fuel providers for our community, like Holly and Magellan, to see how the city can help get their capacity restored.
