Prairie Rose Retirement is doing what it can to keep residents safe and comfortable despite still not having power.
"We are doing OK," Bobbie Johnson, a resident, said. "We have been good to watch after each other. Some of us have been watching over others that have some issues."
Only the common spaces are powered by a generator, so she's had to be resourceful to keep her home lit.
"We have had battery operated flashlights, and little lamps and some of them have little power packs to charge their cell phones," Johnson said.
Floyd Burrus, resident, looks forward to getting his air conditioning back on.
"You cannot imagine how dependent you are on electricity until you have to go with out it," Burrus said.
Burrus thinks he and the other residents have been well taken care of.
"These people have been working hard to see to our comfort as best they can," Burrus said.
Despite the circumstances, Burrus and Johnson are keeping a positive attitude.
"There are going to be issues and you just have to adjust," Burrus said.
"We're 80's and 90's and a couple 100-year-olds and life has changed and we adjust. We keep on going so this just happens to be an unusual circumstance," Johnson said.
