A School Resource Officer is off the job at Tahlequah High School after cell phone video captures what the district calls an unprofessional conversation with a student.

The officer used profanities toward the student and the district says the police department is investigating.

"You know what? Screw you, man. You can take the full ride.”

These words were captured on video used toward 14-year-old Isaac Rose.

Rose is a 9th grader at Tahlequah High School and videoed the situation in the office of the school’s Resource Officer.

“I’ll be up there in court watching your little b**** a** cry like a little baby when you get shipped off,” Rose’s mom, Kathleen Brewer, says the voice is former School Resource Officer Reed Felts.

Tahlequah Police Department says Felts has been a law enforcement officer for 30 years, with 17 years at Tahlequah Police Department and 4 years as an SRO.

Tahlequah Police Chief Nate King says Felts was talking to Rose because Rose is a person of interest in two dispensary break-ins that occurred Thursday night.

King says substances containing THC were also discovered on Rose during school.

“I guess he was calling the officer names as well, which I’m not saying my son is the right either, but the officer was the adult in the room,” Brewer said.

She says the school didn’t wait for her or Rose’s guardian to arrive before the situation escalated.

“He, I guess, got one of his hands in the handcuffs and pulled it behind his back after slamming him to the floor and pulled his arm up really far and did something to his shoulder,” Brewer said.

Tahlequah Superintendent Tanya Jones says in a statement:

“This matter is being investigated, and the officer in question is not present at school and will not be permitted to return on campus as a School Resource Officer."

Tahlequah Public Schools says resource officers are not employed by the school district. Instead, they are contracted with the city through the police department.

Chief King says his department will investigate.

“In the end, you know, it’s our responsibility to ensure the people of Tahlequah are safe and treated with respect. So, we’ll be looking at policy and basically weighing the video of Officer Reed’s actions.”

Brewer says her son was arrested and taken to Sac and Fox Juvenile Facility in Stroud, about 2 hours away.

Chief King says Felts is currently on medical leave because he was hurt in a scuffle with Rose.
