People form good relationships with their doctors and their teachers, but not everyone has a good mechanic in their life.
News On 6 received an email from someone who loves their mechanic and they wanted to thank him for his decades of good service and kindness.
It's the same checklist every time for Wayne Stubbings, owner of Wayne's Auto in Skiatook for the past 40 years; draining and replacing the oil, filling the tires and taking a look underneath the hood.
Stubbings has checked all the boxes on that checklist over and over and over again.
"I am almost 80...I have been doing this since I was 19," he said.
Surprisingly, the reason he's stayed in business for decades is not for his love of getting his hands dirty.
"The main thing is the people," Stubbing said. "We have solved the world's problems back in this bay I don't know how many times."
But those times of chatting with his customers while he works on their cars are coming to an end.
"I have known Wayne since he opened this place," said customer Roger Tomlinson. "He's real caring, he's a compassionate individual about his work that he does it to his standard."
That standard is not just checking in on the car, but checking in on the people, too. Which is why so many wanted to say "goodbye".
Wayne's last day servicing cars is the 22nd, but he says he's not ready to retire yet.
"I am going to work somewhere else," Stubbings said. "Some of these new cars are not the easiest thing to change oil in so I am not going to miss that. I am the old school."
