Man Shot, Killed In Okmulgee Neighborhood; Police Search For Shooter

A man is dead after he was shot in Okmulgee on Monday night, according to police. Officers said they were looking for the person responsible for the shooting.

Officers were called to the intersection of West 2nd and North Bryan Avenue in Okmulgee just before 9 p.m. Monday, Police Chief Joe Prentice said.

Chief Prentice said when officers arrived on the scene, they found a man lying in the street from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim has not yet been identified by police.

Witnesses described the shooter as possibly a male, wearing dark-colored clothing, running down an alley, police said.

A woman at the scene told News On 6 that she was the victim's mother and said he was on his way home when the shooting happened.

Police said they have no other suspect description to release at this time.
