Pet Urgent Care In Tulsa Hopes To Shorten Wait Times For Injured Pets

Veterinary experts say the pandemic caused a shortage of ER vets and long wait times for pet owners and their injured animals.

The owner of a pet urgent care in Tulsa says she's working to fix that problem.

Doctor Corynn Cackler with STATVet said opening her veterinary practice comes after a significant uptick in business during the pandemic.

Dr. Cackler said STATVet was the first urgent care to open in Tulsa and it sees 15 cases a night through the week. On weekends, that rises to 30,

She said some common pet problems she sees include minor wounds, limping, eye injuries or sudden changes in behavior.

She said urgent care is important because there's no illness or injury with your pet that's made better by waiting.

"Having these urgent cares is excellent for the Tulsa community because clients no longer have to wait half a day," Dr. Cackler said. "If you have something that happens to your pet on a Sunday and your primary care is not open, you don’t have to go spend your entire day in the ER. We can get you in and out and taken care of.”

STATVet Urgent Care is located on the corner of 15th and South Columbia Avenue.
