Tulsa International Airport has two new guest service areas it hopes will make air travel more accessible for airport users with different needs.
Airport staff said they’re committed to making the airport as accessible as possible so everyone can enjoy flying.
The new guest service areas has a service animal relief space, a family restroom with adult-sized changing table, as well as lactation, quiet, and sensory rooms.
Each room is equipped and personalized to fit different needs.
Director of Customer Experience Bryan Crook said leaders at TIA care about their customers. They want to help anyone who needs to separate from the crowd and enjoy a quiet space.
Crook said once someone makes it through the security checkpoint and heads to concourse A or B, guest services can be located below both wings.
The all-inclusive spaces were planned in 2020 when a committee was formed with individuals who have disabilities and work in organizations with disabled people.
“We really care about our customers. We want our customers to have the best experience that they can coming through our terminal. We want to remove all the barriers we can, and we want them to enjoy and be proud to say they came through Tulsa and that they love our airport," Crook said.
Identification lanyards for those with disabilities and a visual interpretation app for the blind and hearing impaired has also been added to the amenities.
