Members of several tribes gathered on Saturday to witness the inauguration of two of the Muscogee Nation's chiefs at the River Spirit Casino.
The Tribe swore in its Principal Chief and Second Chief.
David W. Hill was elected to a second term as principal chief after serving the last four years.
He also served three consecutive four-year terms as a member of the tribe's national council.
Another tribal member, Del Beaver, was elected as the second chief.
This will be Beaver's second term in office, with his priority being to protect, preserve and enhance the nation's sovereignty.
Both Principal Chief Hill and Second Chief Beaver spoke at the ceremony about what they are looking forward to during this next term.
"It is our time to move this nation forward it's time to forage a path that our children and our grandchildren can walk on and they got to have that faith that they can succeed," Second Chief Del Beaver said.
Both Chief Hill and Second Chief Beaver said they want to bring internet to underserved areas and expand gaming and economic developments.
"At the far end of the trail of tears was a promise," said Principal Chief Hill. "We are still here, we are growing, we are strong, we are Muscogee."
