A Tulsa man is dead after a crash involving a semi-truck Thursday night near State Highway 66 and West 65th Street in Sapulpa, police said.
A lack of lighting in that area likely played a factor in this deadly crash, officers said.
A man driving a pickup truck headed northbound on State Highway 66 crashed into the flatbed trailer of a semi-truck around 6 p.m. Thursday, police said.
The semi was backing out of the parking lot of a business and the driver of the pickup didn't see the semi coming before crashing into the trailer, police said.
The pickup truck got lodged underneath the flatbed trailer and the victim died at the scene, according to police.
Officers have not released his name at this time, but we know he is a man from Tulsa in his 50's.
Officer Randal Arnold with the Sapulpa Police Department said the area where this crash happened is pretty dark at night.
"This area, obviously there's not a whole lot of ambient lighting, as you can see. To the west there's the turnpike, the Turner Turnpike, which has the traffic lighting; not so much on State Highway 66," Officer Arnold said.
The man who died in this crash was the only person inside the pickup truck, police said.
