Polls are open on Tuesday around Green Country for several city council and school board races.
In Tulsa County, three different school districts are asking voters to approve millions of dollars in bond proposals.
It's not uncommon for this type of election day to have low voter turnout, but election officials stress the importance of voting because there's so much money on the table.
Bixby Public Schools wants voters to approve a $12 million bond that would pay for the construction of a gym at the 9th Grade Center.
Money would also go towards getting new textbooks and technology.
In Jenks, the district is asking for $19 million for upgrades to the tennis courts and security at an elementary school.
The bond would also pay for the third and final upgrade to the freshman academy.
Sand Springs voters are deciding on a massive $114 million bond, which would pay for a new building for 7th and 8th graders, a new cafeteria and kitchen, and improvements to gyms and an auditorium.
That money would also be used to pay for press box upgrades at the football stadium and make buildings ADA-compliant.
Voters at a Sand Springs precinct say it is important for everyone to take part in these elections.
"Whenever there is an option or questions regarding school districts, I'm always in favor of supporting our local school district,” Ron Lundin said.
"I'm a Vietnam veteran, and I believe that is a basic right and obligation that we have,” said Doug Andrus. "It's just like running for President; if you don't vote, don't gripe.”
The polls will be open until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
