Starting next school year, Bartlesville Public Schools will increase its support of the teacher childcare initiative to 40% giving certified staff a 50% discount on childcare services at Tri-County Tech.
Teachers at Bartlesville Public Schools with children will now have the option to send their kids to childcare where they can learn and play in a safe environment. The service is for children starting around six months until they start attending school.
The program helps teachers like Krista Grate continue teaching knowing her children are being taken care of at half the cost.
"Having multiple kids in daycare is a huge expense and it does get to the point of deciding whether it’s worth it or not to stay home or have your kid in childcare so this really made the decision to clear to us like we can I can continue working and they can be a daycare and we can afford it"
Bartlesville Public Schools certified staff also get priority waitlist for Tri County's childcare services. Bartlesville Public Schools hopes to continue its partnership with the Arvest Foundation to help support the initiative and the Bartlesville Public School Foundation is also working on finding additional partners as well.
