Community Care College is getting ready to open a brand-new veterinary lab to provide hands-on training to aspiring veterinary assistants.
This new veterinary assistant lab was designed to keep up with animal and medical changes and technology needs seen in veterinary clinics.
The goal of the new lab is to provide a mock veterinary hospital setting where students learn everything, from interacting with pet owners to using the technology found in clinics.
Doctor Lisette Wigton with Community Care College said the lab used previously was small and cramped, making it difficult to accommodate all the students in the program.
"It was time for us to modify our space and to accommodate our students. It’s all about the student experience here. And so every single year we make a request to potentially enhance a space, or to modify a lab. And we are constantly evolving and changing to meet our student's needs and give them the best education that they deserve," Dr. Wigton said.
The new veterinary assistant lab is set to officially open in about two weeks.
