Two Best Friends Start Thriving Film Studio

Started by two best friends in one of their living rooms, they are one of Oklahoma’s premier studios today.

“Notis, N.O.T.I.S. it is Latin, and it stands for cipher,” said Notis Studios co-owner Dr. Dekoven Riggins.

The friends want viewers to cipher through their films and notice things that they have intentionally hidden.

“If you notice it, it will give you more, or we will tell you things early, and if you can catch it then you can figure some things out,” said Riggins.

It’s something they decided to do early when they started the company in 2019. “Every year, our company has gotten bigger and bigger, and we have gone literally from a living room to this space,” said Notis Studios co-owner Marcus E. Brown.

The space is a former bank, completely gutted, with over seven thousand square feet and the guys knew would be perfect for their company, “I’m walking through here with Marcus and like, yeah we’re going to put this here and this here and this office is going to be here,” said Riggins.

With the help of family and friends, the transformation started, to create a one-stop shop for film, commercials, and music, they can do it all. “In this room is where we do all of our sound mixing for film, TV,” said Riggins.

And while Riggins is perfecting audio, Brown is working to perfect the video side. “If it has to have a certain type of look, or it needs to be edited at all, I will handle it in here,” said Brown.

Their sound stage is already being used for productions. “This is where we shot Neurosis, we shot Caking in here,” said Brown.

When they are not working on major projects they are teaching high school film classes, encouraging the next generation of filmmakers. “It didn’t happen overnight. It’s been constant work and constant grinding and being faithful to what God has given us,” said Riggins.
