Quapaw Public Schools has further delayed the start of school this year after a destructive storm last week.
Now, classes will start on Tuesday, Sept. 3 for all grades.
"We have been working non-stop since last Friday evening on the cleanup from the damage caused by the destructive storm that hit Quapaw," Superintendent David Carriger said in a statement to students and parents. "We are working with the cleanup and construction crews to get facilities open as fast as we can in a safe manner."
The Commerce and Quapaw Schools' back-to-school bash has also been rescheduled. The new event will be combined at at the Commerce High School Fields on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be bounce houses, water slides, a dunk tank, snow cones and other activities.

The start of school is postponed until Monday, Aug. 26 in Quapaw after severe storms caused damage on Friday.
Quapaw Public Schools posted on social media Saturday confirming the over-one-week delay to the start of school.
"This evening (Friday) the school and community was hit with a severe storm with winds over 85 mph. There is considerable damage at the elementary school and in the community. With no electricity, we will be evaluating the damage in the morning and begin the cleanup process. We will keep you posted on next steps. All activities scheduled for tomorrow have been canceled.
