The Tulsa Area United Way Day of Caring is just around the corner, and the organization is still looking for more volunteers.
The Tulsa Area United Way is currently celebrating its centennial, and so they want this year's Day of Caring to be big.
The Day of Caring is an opportunity for people to come out and work on projects for nonprofits and schools that need to be completed. This year, Alison Anthony, the Tulsa Area United Way President and CEO, said the organization is trying to rally 5,000 volunteers to complete more than 400 projects in the community because this is a big year for the organization.
"We’ve had so many nonprofits and schools say, 'Hey, we really need some projects done can you help us?' So we have even more projects to cover this year, and we would love for everyone to roll out with us on Sept. 13 and be part of this amazing day of the community coming together," Anthony said.
Anthony said that as long as you want to help, the United Way will find a project for you to work on during the Day of Caring.
"You don’t have to have a lot of skill. You don’t have to have a lot of equipment. You just have to have a heart for service and be ready to join us with the United Way. This is how we live united in this community. It’s coming together and improving lives and strengthening for this home that we live in that we call the Tulsa area," Anthony said.
The Day of Caring will take place on Sept. 13, but Anthony said people who want to volunteer should sign up by August 30.
