Chanel Johnson and Larrissa Williams each scored in double figures for Tulsa, but it wasn't enough as the Golden Hurricane dropped an 80-60 decision to Tulane on Thursday night at Fogelman Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Golden Hurricane fell to 10-18 on the season and 6-9 in Conference USA, while the Green Wave moved to 15-13 overall and 5-10 in the league.
Tulane jumped out to an 11-point lead, 17-6, with 11:36 to play in the first half, but Kara Vaughan put up two three-point baskets in 45 seconds to cut the Green Wave advantage to five. Tulsa continued to battle back, tying the contest 20-20 with a little over eight minutes to play, and Tulane took a 32-29 advantage into the break.
Tulsa pulled to within one to begin the second half, but the Green Wave out-scored the Golden Hurricane 48-31 in the final 20 minutes for the victory.
Johnson had a team-best 18 points, while Williams added 14. Johnson, Williams and Teka Brooks each totaled seven boards, and Tatum Beer registered eight assists.
For the Green Wave, Megan Valicevic had a team-leading 20 points and eight rebounds. Ashley Langford and Chassity Brown also scored in double digits with 18 and 15, respectively.
Tulsa will conclude regular season action against UTEP on Saturday, March 1st. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. (CST) in El Paso, Texas.
