Grand Lake Claims Boat On Welcome Back Weekend

Welcome Back Weekend on Grand Lake was met with calamity for some boaters Saturday. 

Many lake-goers were excited to hit the water for the first time this season, but an issue on one boat led to six people calling for help. 

According to GRDA, The 30-foot cruiser had engine trouble and started taking on water near the Disney Spillway around 2 p.m.

The 6 people on the boat called 911 and were quickly saved by a GRDA officer.

Various other boaters could be seen watching helplessly as the boat slipped farther and farther into the water.

According to GRDA Police, boat recovery contractors were working to remove the boat from the water.
