Tulsa Man Rescued After Driving Into Drainage Ditch

Tulsa firefighters rescued a man who drove off a bridge and into a ditch near 67th and Lewis.

According to police, a man was riding his bicycle in the area around 4:00 Monday morning and heard someone screaming for help.

First responders arrived on the scene and found a man had driven off the road and crashed about 20-feet down into a concrete ditch.

Firefighters successfully got the man out. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the man was apparently driving south when he went left of center, off the road and drive through a fence before hitting the concrete culvert and dropped about 20 feet.

Police said the man told them he fell asleep while driving.

It's unknown how long the man was in the ditch.

Crews used a huge wrecker to remove the vehicle from the ditch.

Lewis is closed between 66th Place and and 71st Street as the scene is being cleared.
