A Tulsa man accused of a hate crime in the killing of his neighbor is scheduled for a court hearing Friday.
Stanley Vernon Majors, 62, remains in the Tulsa County jail following his arrest in August 2016. He is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Khalid Jabara.
Court records show he has a status conference Friday.
Those records also show his attorney has asked the court for a protective order that would bar anyone associated with the case from talking with the news media.
They cite specific examples of where they say Jabara's family members have talked to the news media and Majors' attorneys believe this is impacting the impartiality of the case.
