Two women were killed in a car wreck on U.S. 271 in Pushmataha County on Monday.

Tammie Renee Swearingen, 44, of Tuskahoma, and Carly Dawn Hunter, 19, of Fort Towson, were identified as the deceased, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Swearingen's 2017 Dodge Journey was southbound on the highway while Hunter's was northbound, the OHP reported.

Hunter's vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway. She overcorrected and crossed the center line in a broad slide, striking Swearingen's vehicle, the OHP reported.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this time, the OHP reported.
