A 7-year-old boy may not be able to return to Texas for medical treatment after he was severely burned in a house fire.
He was sent to The Shriners Hospital for Children for care, but the family has so many additional expenses they can't afford to go back for the rest of his treatment.
The Shriners are covering all of the medical treatment, but the family still can't make ends meet, and the expenses keep piling up.
The fire that burned 7-year-old Kaydyn happened in February in Chouteau, but the physical and emotional trauma is far from over.
"He went through the worst kind of pain that anyone could even imagine and he still is," said Sand Wood, Kaydyn's maternal grandmother.
Sandi Wood has been by his side from day one. An aunt is also helping with his care now that he's back in Oklahoma.
"We have appointments all the time; we're both doing phone calls everyday all day," Wood said.

Kaydyn's treatment at the Shriner's burn hospital in Galveston is covered, but the family is still struggling to make ends meet. Sandi stayed with him for three months while he was in Texas, jumping from hotel to hotel, and finally renting a small condo to save money.
"While there, we were almost up to $8,000," said Sandi Wood, grandmother to a 7-year-old boy who was badly burned.
That condo is now demanding Sandi replace the sleeper sofa after a special red bandage from Kaydyn's wounds accidentally stained it. That's another $1,100 they don't have.
Kaydyn has to go back to the Shriner's Hospital for more treatment in June, and Sandi doesn't know how long they'll have to be there....
"It has been for everyone, it takes a lot of work, I mean, a lot of care, a lot of care for him," she said.
A lot of care that means she can't work and the funds from family are running out.
Sandi tells me she is so thankful for the Shriner's but with his round-the-clock care and treatment, she doesn't know how they'll make ends meet. Kaydyn's brother was also burned, but he was released from the Shriner's Hospital after a few days and is doing well.
