NE Oklahoma To See Picture Perfect Day

After having to put up with some chilly, raw conditions on Saturday, we’re being rewarded with some picture-perfect Sunday weather!

Chilly conditions this morning will quickly give way to pleasant late morning and afternoon temperatures, thanks to abundant sunshine. Look for highs around the 70 degree mark with a light north breeze and very comfortable humidity. Any way you slice it, the weather looks absolutely perfect to get outside and enjoy!

The return to a south breeze begins late tonight as high pressure slides off to our east. We’ll start off our Monday on a cool note once again as lows dip back into the 40s for the early morning hours. A much stronger south breeze along with mostly sunny skies will push our highs back into the upper 70s Monday afternoon.

We’ll be returning to typical late April warmth, wind, and humidity by Tuesday as gusty south winds continue and clouds increase ahead of our next storm system. Highs should be climbing back into the 80s Tuesday afternoon, setting the stage for storms to develop by Tuesday night.

Our next approaching cold front should help trigger scattered storms across northeastern Oklahoma after sunset Tuesday into late Tuesday night, particularly north of I-40. A few of these storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds the primary threats. Storms should quickly shift to the east Wednesday morning.

In the wake of this next cold front, we look to be in for another noticeable cool-down as lingering clouds and a gusty NW wind could keep us in the 50s and 60s for much of Wednesday. Clouds will be tough to clear through Thursday, which could very well keep our highs in the 60s Thursday afternoon as well along with a chance for scattered showers.

A powerful upper-level storm system looks to take aim at the Southern Plains by the end of next week as a strong surface low pressure system swings back into our part of the country. Quite a bit of uncertainty still exists by next Friday and next Saturday, but there does appear to be the potential for one or two rounds of additional heavy rain and possibly significant severe weather in this time frame.
