Man Stabbed In Neck During Tulsa Apartment Burglary Attempt

Police say an elderly man stabbed a man who had forced his way inside the victim's Tulsa apartment late Friday.

Officers said the attempted burglary and assault happened at an apartment complex near 61st and Peoria.

Police said the suspect knocked on the door of the man's apartment and when the resident opened the door, the suspect assaulted the man.  During that assault, police said the resident stabbed the suspect in the neck with a knife.

They said it appears the suspect was intoxicated.

The suspect was taken to the hospital where police say he is expected to recover.  EMSA also took the resident to the hospital to be checked out for injuries suffered during the assault.

Police say the suspect lives in the same apartment complex as the victim and officers are looking into reports the suspect had been causing problems prior to the burglary attempt.
