A 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed Saturday evening when his Honda was hit from behind by a Corvette. The crash shut down North Memorial in both directions near Pine for nearly six hours.
Tulsa Police said Gabriel Stone was southbound on North Memorial Drive near East Newton Place around 8:30 p.m. when his Cobra was rear-ended. Investigators said the Corvette then crashed into a utility pole.
Stone was pronounced dead at the scene. The Corvette driver, 56-year-old Timothy Harris, was taken to the hospital where he was said to be stable but critically hurt.
"At this time it is not known if alcohol or speed contributed to this collision," police records state. "Any future charges relating to this collision will not be filed until a significant amount of follow-up investigation is completed."
Police said Stone was not wearing a helmet and that both vehicles were totaled.
