Tulsa Public Schools plans to move teachers out of their classrooms to rebalance staff among schools with too many, or not enough, students.

The district says 17 schools will lose one or two teachers, 19 schools will gain one or two, and 56 will have no changes.

Talia Shaull with TPS said, “They're spread throughout the district and our numbers are pretty much on projections. We try to get as close as possible, so, in the majority of sites we'll see a difference of one teacher, the rest are based on growth, and that's mobility. It's common in an urban district our size.”

The teachers will change schools this Friday.

Tulsa Public has 38,600 students this year.
