All you need is a little help from your friends, or that's the sentiment of those in the Tulsa cycling community. A group of riders gathered Sunday to help two fellow bike riders recovering from serious injuries after a crash back in July.
Paul Clayton and Dave Crowell were patients in the hospital just two weeks ago. On Sunday, they were at Heirloom Bakery off Cherry Street with their friends. The two men are battered and bruised - but recovering.
"I have two fractured vertebrae, a fractured rib and a fractured fibula in my leg," said Dave Crowell, bicyclist.
Paul Clayton said, "Nine broken ribs, broken scapula, broken collar bone, broke off my tibia, no, my humorous, cuts on my forehead."
They were rear-ended by a suspected drunk driver on old Highway 75 in Kiefer.
"Just a route that we do pretty regularly," Paul said.

"I heard the crunch of his bike and then the crunch of my bike, and I didn't know what it was at first," Dave said. "I don't remember a thing until I'm sliding down the road - then I realized we'd been hit."
The two men typically ride with Tom's Bicycles but were not with the group that night. The club decided to do something to help them with medical expenses.
"Just trying to help out the best we can," said Mike Patrick of Tom's Bicycles. "We're family and friends first, teammates last."
Riders from clubs all over Tulsa showed up to donate and ride in honor of Dave and Paul. While they're still a long way from recovery, both say they'll be back on a bike one day.
They're determined to get up - after the fall.
