A wild horse and burro adoption is planned for this weekend in Vinita. The two day event will be held from noon to 6 p.m. July 15-16 at the Craig County Fairgrounds.
Event organizers said all animals will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis for a minimum adoption fee of $125.
The Bureau of Land Management offers adult and yearling horses and burros that once roamed free on public lands in the West. An application can be approved on site, but you must be at least 18 years old with no record of animal abuse, a news release states. You must also meet standards for transporting and housing the animals.
