Sperry House Fire Blamed On Hot Water Tank

Sperry firefighters responded to a small fire in a family home in the 120 block of North Atoka Sunday morning.

Sperry Fire Chief Sam Bradley said they believe the fire began in the laundry room.

"Hot water tank started it," Bradley said. "There were people at home at the time - they're all out safe."

Bradley said the fire didn't spread to any other room in the house, although there did appear to be damage to the attic.

The volunteer fire department was airing out the home after getting the fire out.
