A Tulsa police officer was injured in a crash Tuesday morning in the 7800 block of South Mingo. Authorities say the officer was driving an unmarked traffic enforcement vehicle.
The officer was northbound on Mingo en route to provide backup in a traffic stop, according to Corporal Brian Collum. He made a wide U-turn to go south on Mingo, and another driver was unable to avoid hitting him, according to police.
"There was a vehicle behind him that he obviously did not see," Collum said. "Witnesses stated they thought he was actually going to make a right-hand turn. He did not use his emergency equipment, and she could not stop and she struck him in his left rear tire."
The police officer may have a mild concussion, Collum said.
The woman driving the other car wasn't hurt.
The roadway was closed as traffic investigators took photos and collected evidence.
"We investigate all wrecks the same. We don't show any preference. If the investigation shows whoever's at fault, they're at fault," Collum said.
