The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office has sixteen new detention officers.
They graduated from the jail's academy on Friday, but before the ceremony, they went out to serve the community as part of their training. The cadets read to the child at Tulsa's Sequoyah Elementary School on Friday morning.
"The detention officers are able to see the community they serve, the people they serve, you know the example they have to set and who is for," said TCSO detention officer Tina Resendez.
The sixteen officers started work on Saturday at the Tulsa County jail.
