The Drumright Fire Department and residents remembered Fire Chief Wade Guyer with a plaque dedication Saturday, February 27. Guyer died last year after a battle with cancer.
He served with the city fire department for 20 years.
Guyer was honored for maintaining state-of-the-art equipment, improving the firefighter and dispatch procedures and increasing the safety of the town's citizens during his tenure as firefighter and chief.

The plaque notes that Chief Guyer led the department's response during the devastating fires of 2012, "protecting every occupied building in our community."
"Chief Guyer dedicated his life to his family, his friends, his fire department and his city," the plaque reads. "He answered his final call on Friday, October 2, 2015."
