Sapulpa firefighters later said the couple were in a tent when it washed into the creek.

Sapulpa FD had trouble getting the boat in the water because of the mud, but they were able to deploy the boat by hand into the water for the rescue.

The two were transported to a local a hospital to get warmed up and to be checked out, firefighters said.

"In these situations when you're out here at night, if someone hadn't seen or heard them, they would have been swept away and no one would have ever known it," battalion chief D.J. Keizor said.
