Sand Springs Police held its 24th annual Shop with Cops Sunday. The Sand Springs Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #109 took kids Christmas shopping with the help of donors in the community.
Residents including school kids, churches, business people and civic groups raised $13,500 to provide presents for kids in need.
"In all, around 200 children who would not have had a merry Christmas will have been able to each select $60 in toys, clothing or other gifts," according to the Sand Springs Police Department.
“It is such a pleasure to see the joy in the faces of these kids and to see the passion that our officers have for our community. This is just one of the many ways our officers give back to Sand Springs," said Chief of Police Mike Carter.
The Clyde Boyd Middle School LAFS classes raised $3,500 - with student Brock Swanson raising $1,000 towards the cause.
