Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Tulsa Tuesday to attend a Democratic National Committee event.

Osage SkyNews 6 HD was in the air as Air Force Two landed in Tulsa.

Biden attended a Democratic Party fundraiser outside the Summit Club, where security was tight and several downtown streets around 5th and Main were blocked off.

Biden was in town to see more than 200 supporters. Former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor and several others said they were happy to see the VP visit the state.

"I think it's really exciting that he understands that there are many Democrats in Oklahoma that share his values that want to hear from him and excite us," Taylor said.

She said Biden's visit is significant for the Democratic Party.

"I think what it shows, is that the party cares about Oklahoma, that they know that we have great public servants in this community. While certainly we were the party in power for a long time, we’re not now. There are a lot of Democrats who want to see our values represented in our government in Oklahoma," Taylor said.

Supporters contributed at least $100 to see Biden.

“It's good to have him here to see what we're doing here --what Oklahoma Democrats are doing. We've got a big long election cycle ahead of us, so I think it's going to help fire up our base a little bit," said Russell Griffin with the Oklahoma Democratic Party.

The vice president leaves for Houston where he will attend another fundraising event.
